I was first interested in boxing as a way to change up my regular workouts of dance and weight training. After one hour, I didnt even notice how sweaty I was because I was so focused on the technique and how much fun I was having! I was hooked from day one and began boxing a few days a week, then 5 days a week, and eventually training to compete.

Most people don't realize that boxing is a TOTAL BODY WORKOUT. It appears that it is mostly arms at work, when in fact the back and core are working the hardest, ultimately giving the waist and back a strong lean look. And the legs are the base of it all! Defense drills and footwork build strength in the legs and running and jumping rope give the boxer endurance.

In the many years I have been boxing and teaching classes and training clients, I have seen this workout change lives. It has given men and women confidence they were lacking, an outlet they needed and it has taught so many how to relax! I know that sounds weird but any athlete understands that it is nearly impossible to be effective in any sport when you are tense and holding your breath. In order to throw the most powerful and fastest punch combination, you have to relax and breathe. One of my favorite things to hear from a client is that boxing has improved other areas of his or her life. From stress relief to improved surfing, I've seen it all and it is truly amazing.
